Asian Children’s Financial Literacy

After the COVID pandemic, many people have clearly seen the importance of understanding and managing personal finances. Many people have lost their jobs and never thought that there would be a time when they would have no money to live. In the US, lack of financial literacy cost the country $415 billion in 2020 (NFEC, 2021). We never want our children to be in a state of financial instability when similar risky events occur in the future. CHILDREN’S FINANCE is currently collaborating with Maybank Foundation to organize free financial education programs for children through cartoons. This is a CSR (corporate social responsibility) program of Maybank. The program is organized at Primary Schools in major cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

The program is also organized for PARENTS AND CHILDREN TO PARTICIPATE FOR FREE. The whole family can learn and practice lessons related to Family Budgeting together in a fun and meaningful way.

Cashville Kidz is a financial education program through 24 animated episodes to teach children about Saving, Spending, Budgeting and Investing. This program aims to help children improve their financial literacy in a fun and easy-to-understand way. The program was developed by MoneyTree Asia Pacific in collaboration with Maybank and Maybank Foundation in 2012 in Malaysia. After its success in Malaysia, the program has been introduced to schools in Cambodia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore and Myanmar. To date, the programme has been implemented in over 950 schools, reaching over 440,000 students, and over 4,200 teachers have been trained to deliver the programme across Asia

The Cashville Kidz programme has won several international awards including:

1. Efma-Accenture Global Banking and Marketing Innovation Award 2013 in Paris.

2. Platinum Award for Excellence in Literacy & Education at the 6th Global CSR Conference & Awards 2014, Bali, Indonesia.
